João Vieira

João is a Venture Partner at Medicxi. He received a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Porto. Prior to joining Medicxi, João spent 20 years in antibody engineering, protein therapeutics and cell therapy biotech R&D, from concept through asset optimisation. Most recently, he held a senior discovery role at argenx, where he led innovation programs in immunology and discovery operations. He combines hands-on discovery and development experience with proficiency in immunoinformatics and translating emerging platform technologies into clinical-stage assets.

At Medicxi, he partners with founders on antibody and protein therapeutic opportunities, providing scientific due diligence and hands-on support for early-stage company creation.
